Hi All,
I'm kind of new to sryth, just got my AG subscription renewed, and am wondering, iis it possible to exchange items with other players? Is there another wy to get adventurer tokens without donating? I did not get any magic skill like arcana at the start to if I restart my character will I still get the 2000600 or so experience bonus and the gold and adventurer token bonus's? What good qusts are there for me to embark on? I've already beaten the caves of westwold and the highway men scenario.

two-million EXP? LOL. As for quests I would advise the Seven Knight Statues. As I said in another thread most of the items aren't necessarily worth it unless you're focusing on magic or whatnot for your character since a lot of them affect Mind, Aura and Spirit, the three stats that most determine your magical ability. I think Aura is the one that has most effect on your magic since if I'm not mistaken it determines how many Nevernal Reserve points you get. Other quests you might consider are the Tarnrat quest in Dursig (visit the tavern there), Lyrelocke Monastery in Trithik and the two currently available Silver Crest scenarios. There are also two adventures in the city of Mirgspil that aren't too difficult (and you get four Kepbekk Elixirs from one of them). Actually there are four or five adventures total in Mirgspil but only two are accessible right away. The Old Cathedral is the big one and it yields the four elixirs. Once you complete it you unlock two smaller adventures (though one requires you to visit the Magistrate in order to see it). Don't attempt things like Secret of Stoneback Hill or the Thane's Tournament until you've managed toget your MR at least into the forties, which isn't really that hard to do. As for Adventurer Tokens you can certainly get them without donating. Sometimes ou find them during adventures and you always earn some by completing PRoving Grounds contests, althoug from your comments I'd say you aren't ready for those yet. But there are qite a few "free" tokens in the game that you can acquire without too much difficulty. If you haven't already you might try visiting the Stoneback in Hawklor after completing Westwold. That's twelve free ATs right there. I wouldn't attempt the adventure that encounter unlocks just yet though, not until your MR is at least into the fifties. There are a few fights in that adventure that will be all but impossible otherwise.

Thanks Bryan,
My MR is about 41, and I'm currently in the contest at the Dragonhill feilds. I feel like I'm not ready for gthe proving grounds but I'l try them later. What does a quickstone do? And what is that tome that tallys is selling` what is it for?

You're attempting the RIng of Illusion with an MR of 41? I'd sa you're nowhere near ready for that. As for the TOme, it's not even available yet and it's not entirely clear what it does, only that it'll offer rewards of some kinds for past accomplishments. As for the Quickstone, I'd read up on it in game. BUt the short version is tat it'll give you two full heals per day during battle and it also allows you to run Quick Combats. It'll also completely restore your health and magic anytime you enter a safe location. It also gives you a 10-percent EXP bonus per day, which you can collect inside that windowless building in Hawklor, Trithik and Talinus. Of course that means if you play for a nice long time without cashing in your Quickstone bonus you can wind up with quite a large one since it'll remember up to ninety days' worth of experience earned. I've earned close to 70000 EXP just from Quickstone bonuses sometimes.

Do you mean the stoneback hill in trithik? What about Haunley-jack in Hawklor? How do I find him? Is there a way to exchange items in between players like in Kingdom of loathing? Is it possible to weild two weapons? Like a sword in one hand and an axe in the other?

Post 6 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 29-Apr-2011 13:11:26

I don't get your question about Stoneback Hill. As for Hawnley-Jakk, you need to play the three-part GIants series of adventures. ANd you're definitely nowhere near ready for that. An MR of at least eighty is advisable for that one, particularly if you want to have any chance of killing the giant brothers. You don't HAVE to kill them in order to win but if you do you can find some equipment that's excellent for selling. As for exchangingweapons there's no way to do that, nor can you wield more than one weapon. I know the GM has talked about implementing that ability but we'll see.

I do like Sryth. It's fun. I heard about it on a podcast on Blind Cool Tech some wuile ago. BrianP26, yu aren't by any chance that Brian, are you? Paladin, I mean?

I've got some questions myself. First off, what other ways are there to increase your melee rating, besides equipping weapons and armour? I must confess that particular aspect does confuse me a bit. Second, I have twice attempted the Beast of Ironfang scenario, and I'm wondering, how the heck do I beat it? Of course, my main character's MR is only 42, so I guess that's got something to do with it. Her Elementalism skill is at like 60, I think. Is using magic the way to kill the beastie? Should I wait until I get my MR higher before trying that quest again?

Lastly, does the stuff you get once you complete the seven knights quest have any real value? Can you sell the stuff? I've already got a sword that I'm quite fond of, so I don't wanna use the fox sword I get, really. I've not completed the adventure, though I have managed to beat the seven knights once. I forgot to save the game though. Grrr! Oh well. Thanks.

It's BryanP22, but yes I'm the same guy. As for increasing Melee Rating, the other way to do that is by raising your Weaponry skill using experience points. And if you have any Weaponry subskills, particularly if you have the subskill related to whatever weapon you prefer wielding, you should raise that as much as you can. So if you're a sword person you would focus on Weaponry and Weaponry: Slashing. As for the Seven Knights stuff, you can sell it but unless you're willing to fork over two Adventurer TOkens to access the Fences in the Owlnook Tavern you're not going to get good money for it. Besides, the GM has hinted several times at the possibility of an adventure that will require all seven items to complete. So he has hinted at expanding on that storyline. So I'd actually advise holding onto that stuff. If you buy the little house in Durnsig you can hold onto it without having to carry it all around with you. THe only item of it that I regularly equip is Cape of the Griffon, which should tide you over until you get a better item.
As for Beast of Ironfang, don't even bother with that quest until your MR is at least into the sixties. You probably won't be able to kill the beast during the first encounter (in fact I'm pretty sure you can't). He runs away before you can do enough damage to him. So I generally run from him at that point. Later in that adventure when you actually find his lair he's a lot easier, particularly if you have a bow and Archery at a decent level to wound him before the actual fight.

Yeah, sorry about the mistake. Lol. Thanks for all the tips! I like swords, so I think I'll stick with the slashing skill. I really wish magic didn't take so many experience points to train, but oh well.

I know. Especially since when you get up to the harder quests power checks require seventy or even eighty mastery. And while it's actually comparitively easy to get a power up to seventy it's much harder to go beyond that.

What I meant is the curse of stoneback hill. I feel unready to face the Voron-thul, even with the axe Thane Pirand gave me.

Post 12 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Tuesday, 17-May-2011 16:57:48

My archery is at about 22 and weaponry at 23 and woodsmanship at 24 I should have so gotten arcana, maybe that would have given me elementalism but I didn't oh well.

Skills don't usually give you powers, you have to either pick, or roll a character with them already. You do have opportunities to gain some powers later on in the game though. Just keep working at it.
I don't remember the sryth wiki site, I think it's www.sryth.wikia.com. That may help you out a lot.

My char Cassandra has an mr around 160 when I'm not wearing the ring of greater warding and sp of 155 with an nvr of 32. I'm stuck on level 29 of Rhaknar's mad. I hate these shadow serpants... but love my WoD.

Post 14 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Wednesday, 18-May-2011 15:26:50

What is this ring? Wow, that's a lot of Sp, Nv, and Mr. Wish I could go that high.

Post 15 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Thursday, 19-May-2011 17:28:26

You will if you keep on. The Ring of Greater Warding is needed to enter Rhaknar's Mad, the labyrinth in the Forest of FOgbough. But you're nowhere near ready for that. And there's only one occasion when a skill, that being Arcana, will be directly involved in your acquiring a power, and even then it's not necessary since yo can acquire that power later in the game, and at a higher level of mastery than you would if you went the Arcana route.

Post 16 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Friday, 20-May-2011 1:50:39

I'm such a cheater cheater. The only way I'm completing this level is by leaving my sryth window open in a combat screne over night so my quickstone will reset as well as my WoD. I can't believe there are yet ten more levels.

Mat, ask if you have any more quest questions. Sryth can be confusing at first... and still even now.

Post 17 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 20-May-2011 10:29:51

Ah yes, I've done that on several occasions. Just don't try that in a Proving Grounds contest or it'll time out and that'll count as a loss. As for the Mad. my only complaint (and it's only a half complaint), is the fact that you can only unlock and play one level a day. Of course if you can stand to do this you can actually play two levels a day by unlocking the first level you want to play, then saving and then waiting to actually play it till the next day after the server reset. Then you can actually play two levels if you want.
